Magazine Scam - need help / have questions? Subscriber Services called me and offered me a subscription to 5 of my favorite magazines. I would pay for the magazines for one year (set fee each month) and then I would receive 2 free years. I agreed and paid my 12 months of fees. After the 12 months was finished, I was contacted by a customer services rep. They offered me a special bonus for being a "valued customer". They told me that I would receive two more years of magazines for a discounted price per month. I asked them why I would need to pay anything for magazines that I am suppose to receive for free. They then explained to me that the fees were being paid for the shipping and handling of the magazines. I was bothered because I was told they were free, but I agreed because I like the magazines and it was cheaper then what I was paying. They sent me a confirmation letter; after reading I found out that I agreed to pay for an extra two years of magazines on top of the 2 free years. I called the company to cancell but they told me that it was a non-cancellable agreement. Not only did they mislead me (pretty much lied to me about what I was agreeing to) they wouldn't let me cancel a subscription that I wouldn't begin receiving for another 2 years. I ended up cancelling my bank account to stop them from charging me; but not after they charged me 5 different times. They sent the balance to collections. -I am curious, if the service that I am paying for has not yet occured - none of my revenue to the company has been earned, why can't it be cancelled - is that legal? What should I do to resolve this, shouldn't I be able to cancel and have the payments I did make refunded?

I just recieved my August issue in the mail 8 weeks later but did not recieve my July issue so what should I do?

In addition, almost every newspaper we buy contains "sales" ads. Many of these multipage ads are printed on slick, magazine-like paper, so the paper cannot readily be recycled like newsprint & ends up in landfills! Who else finds it difficult to take the conservation of paper & wood seriously when we are innundated with these slick, glossy, multipage "sales" ads at least *every* week (I only subscribe to weekend newspaper editions)? In addition, every magazine received contains *multiple* subscription cards & other cards to send for something! Weekly, most households where I live receive "The Bag", which contains mostly classified ads, grocery & other ads. Forty years ago, all of the many discount & major dept, auto parts, lumber, appliance, electric supply firms, hardware & plumbing suppliers, etc., put out ads only when they were having *real* sales! I am being ripped off by a magazine company.? Basically I get seven magazines a month through a company who gives discounts on subscriptions. Times are tough now and I recently got my work hours cut, and have had to cut back. I tried to cancel but the company said I have to stick by my order of a one year subscription which does not end until march, and that they will continue to do the monthly direct withdrawals from my bank account. Here's what I'm considering: I simply close the bank account. Then they have nothing to charge? Could I do this? I mean, I don't think they'd have a case to sue me because if I stop paying them, they obviously stop sending the magazines, and if they stop sending the magazines, then they are no longer providing a service to get payment for. Plus it is my understanding that only thinks like loans and credit card bills effect your credit.

Here's what I'm considering: I log into my online banking and put a stop payment on them. Then the bank will decline their next attempt to draw funds. Could I do this? This is ridiculous and there was no mention of this policy at the time I ordered. Here's what I'm considering: I simply close the bank account. Then they have nothing to charge? Could I do this? My monthly bill is seventy seven dollars and they have already billed me for June. If I close the account the remaining three months will not add up to the minimum claim of three hundred dollars they need to file against me in court in my county. (I checked with the court already)

Air Rifle Questions.........? I just bought my first air rifle today, the Gamo Delta (525 fps). I've never used any type of gun before, neither air gun nor real gun. It was a cheapie that I got at a discounted rate from work, so I bought it in order to use it for pigeon control. From what I understand, it is a light easy airgun to learn to shoot with and will not kill the pigeons but will mainly scare them away. I am living with folks again, they want the pigeons gone but not killed, which is why I opted for the lower fps. I've not yet had a chance to fire it but the more I hold it, the more I am starting to like the feel of it. I've got a some questions. They may sound a bit silly but here it goes: 1. Are there any subscription magazines that cater to air rifles? 2. Where can I go to fire my air rifle on a regular basis so I do not disturb my neighbors? 3. How do you clean a break barrel spring piston air rifle? 4. I don't completely understand how the scoping adjustments work or what the numbers mean. Can you explain it to me? 5. The gun I got was used and the manual states there should be something called a scope stop on the scope barrel. I did not see one on the gun. Is it important that I have one? 6. Is there anything else I should know? Okay, so it seems that I jumped into the water a bit prematurely on this, but any help you could give would be appreciated.
